In order to track the sea turtles in Cyprus, we need your help. Have you seen a sea turtle? Or do you go snorkeling regularly? Then be sure to report your sightings to us. All you need is:
A photo of the turtle's head and the location and date of sighting.
Great! It's always fascinating to see sea turtles. If you have photos of them, especially the sides of their heads, then be sure to upload the sighting. You'll find instructions for doing so below.
Please report the location to us directly. Preferably by email to info@os-xenios.com or by phone / Whatsapp to +357 99 399 404.
Also take photos, if possible, of both sides of the head so we can identify them if necessary.
We will ask you for the location.
The easiest way to send us your sighting is by email to info@os-xenios.com
Please provide at least the following information:
- Date and time of sighting
- Location of sighting
(preferably Google Maps link)
- Comment on the turtle's behavior
- Photos attached
To identify sea turtles, we need photos of the face. Ideally, we need photos of both sides of the turtle. If this is not possible, we prefer photos of the right side. The higher the quality of the images, the easier and clearer the identification can be.
However, it is important not to stress the turtle unnecessarily during the entire process. Therefore, be careful and avoid long exposure times or the use of flash.
